Mr A had been short-sighted since his 20s. His prescription of -8.5 in one eye and -8 in the other had remained stable since his mid-30s so it was only when he was looking for a new pair of glasses and was disappointed when he was unable to have the frames he wanted, that he decided to act.

Mr A says: I was badly short sighted and when I couldnt get the frames I wanted because of the thickness of lenses I needed, I decided it was time for laser eye treatment. As soon as Id made the decision to have laser surgery a client mentioned that it was a life-changing experience and the best thing hed ever done.

Mr A phoned Moorfields Private and got an appointment very quickly, he says: I think I phoned on the Wednesday and they immediately confirmed an appointment for the following Tuesday. If it was feasible I wanted the laser surgery done as soon as possible so they provisionally booked me in on the following Friday. They took care of everything which was great.

Mr A then attended his initial consultation. He says: It was a very comfortable environment and after an eye exam with a professional optometrist, the consultant discussed the options with me. When I decided to go ahead with the procedure he explained the process, answered all my questions and I was surprisingly relaxed about it all.

On the day itself, the consultant managed the laser surgery on both of my eyes in around 10 to 15 minutes. I wasnt apprehensive and the straightforward procedure itself was over very quickly. A simple eye-drop routine was explained and after some routine checks I went home. My eyes settled down very quickly and to be honest the biggest pain was remembering to do the eye-drops regularly! However that was a small price to pay for the results achieved.

It was a really revolutionary experience for me and the Moorfields Private team were friendly, professional and meticulous in their approach. I have a follow-up appointment in about a months time to check alls well and Im looking forward to seeing the team again. I can honestly say I was really impressed by Moorfields Private - from the people, to the actual procedure which was very quick and painless. I had it done about six weeks ago and am still getting used to it - its still second nature to reach for my glasses but Im pleased to say theyre no longer needed.
