- 1). Wash the area you plan to paint with degreaser, using a coarse brush. Use the water hose to rinse the degreaser from the surface. Let the area dry for two hours.
- 2). Place the stencil face-down on a flat piece of cardboard. Coat the back with stencil spray adhesive.
- 3). Immediately attach the stencil to the area you want the home address to appear. Tape the edges of the stencil in place, using low-tack painter's tape.
- 4). Spray oil-based primer over the exposed number cutouts. Use an etching spray primer if you are painting over metal. Prevent runs by holding the can 8 inches from the stencil as you spray.
