How to Replace Car Bulbs

    Headlight Bulb

    • 1). Open the hood of your vehicle to access the headlight housing.

    • 2). Pull up on the pins that are used to secure the housing. Use a screwdriver to remove any screws that were used to secure the housing if pins were not used.

    • 3). Pull the headlight housing out from the front of the vehicle.

    • 4). Turn the wiring harness for the light bulb counter clockwise and pull the bulb out of the housing.

    • 5). Pull the tabs on the socket to remove the old bulb and replace it with a new one.

    • 6). Insert the wiring harness back into the headlight housing and tun it clockwise to secure it.

    • 7). Place the headlight housing back in the front of the vehicle and push down on the pins or replace the screws to complete the repair.

    Taillight Bulb

    • 1). Inspect the back end of your vehicle to see how you need to access the bulb. Most taillight bulbs can be changed by removing the lens cover.

    • 2). Remove the screws from the lens cover on the taillight with a screws driver. Take the cover off and set it aside.

    • 3). Unscrew the bulb from the socket to see what type it is and then take it to an automotive supply store to find a replacement. Alternatively, you can refer to the owners manual for your vehicle to find the type of bulb that is needed.

    • 4). Place the new bulb into the socket and turn it clockwise to tighten it.

    • 5). Set the lens cover back in place and tighten the screws with a screwdriver to complete the project
