- 1). Heat water to a simmer in a saucepan. Add 2 cups amla berries and simmer until soft. Strain the water through cheesecloth, wrapping the amla in the cloth. Squeeze the amla over the mixing bowl to collect the juice.
- 2). Add a teaspoon of each spice, in powder form. Most of these spices can be purchased as powder for convenience. These are also the most common and easiest to find spices, included in chaywanaprash. For a full list, see the References section.
- 3). Stir the ingredients together with a wooden spoon until a paste is formed. Add a cup of honey a little at a time, stirring constantly until all of the honey is combined with the mixture.
- 4). Heat a cup of milk in a saucepan until warm but not boiling. Add a spoonful each of ghee and the chywanaprash mixture. Pour carefully into the mug and enjoy.
