Many dog owners initially think that if they show their dog enough love and warmth, the dog will love them and obey them which is essentially an effective method of training the dog.
But this rarely turns out to be the case.
In fact it is more likely to go sour on the owner with the dog misbehaves and turns enjoyable moments together into something else entirely.
Even the cutest dog can turn into a nuisance if the owner does not take his responsibility seriously enough to ensure that his pet is well behaved and not a concern to strangers while the dog is out and about on the streets.
Dogs that have not been taught to obey commands cannot suddenly understand what 'sit' or 'stop' means when they are yelled at them out of the blue and they have never been taught how to correctly react.
Without training you could find that your dog is ruining things around the house and garden and that he is in need of constant supervision which can become tiresome to everyone.
Many times when owners get to this stage of the game they are ready to give their dog to an animal shelter or a new home.
But the truth is that even at this late stage there are ways to bring your pet under control.
It takes a little time and effort to ensure that your dog is a responsible member of the family.
At least one person within the household should take the trouble to spend some quality time with the dog ensuring a sense of trust and love exists.
This will enhance the dog-owner relationship making the training an easier task.
Here's why a trained dog makes a better pet: 1.
Visitors are not happy about arriving to a barking, jumping dog.
2.
You are not safely in control of things when you don't know how to control your dog.
3.
People admire a responsible dog owner.
4.
You are the master.
5.
Your dog is easier to look after, even if you need a friend to doggy-sit when you go away on holiday.
6.
The pleasure of having a well-behaved dog as a companion is a joy.
7.
Your home becomes a safer environment.
8.
Your pet does not create problems for you that can result in fines or repair bills.
Do not assume that it is up to other people to be patient with your dog.
Ensure that you are the one to take the correct responsibility and train your dog properly.
