- 1). Draw a picture of something that is important or spiritual to you on a piece of tag board. Use a black permanent marker to outline your design, but do not color your design in. This is what you will use your yarn for.
- 2). Cut yarn of a variety of colors into 12-inch lengths using scissors. Set them aside by color grouping.
- 3). Spread a thin layer of white glue onto one outlined portion of the drawing on your tag board. Carefully place lengths of yarn into the glue until the outlined portion is completely filled in with yarn, curving the yarn to adapt to the outlines of the drawing as you go. Work in small sections so that the glue does not dry before the yarn is placed.
- 4). Lightly brush white glue onto the background of your picture and decide on a yarn color for the background. Carefully place strips of yarn into the glue until no tag board is visible. Allow your Huichol painting to dry completely.
- 5). Spray carefully with acrylic sealant. Only adults should handle acrylic sealant, as it contains strong chemicals. Once the sealant has dried, your Huichol painting will be ready to be proudly displayed.
