Making the Thought Count - Card Making

A person's life has many celebrations, from cradle to the grave.
These are moments that, as social beings, people have to share with one another, and in some way, manifest a form of solidarity with the celebrant.
Most of the time, people bring gifts or cards.
Indeed, cards have become so popular that there is a card for every occasion, every occurrence and every ceremony.
Its popularity has even profited some creative entrepreneurs; card making has made plenty of money for the most popular publishers.
The card is, in fact, a very thoughtful expression of oneness with a person in celebration or in grief.
There are not just words, but appropriate illustrations as well.
But a store-bought card carries less meaning nowadays.
After all, one could simply pick up a generic card and turn it in, dulling any meaning that comes with a celebration.
Thus, it could be seen as less personal.
This is why some people decide to make their own cards, the similar sentiment to creating a slide show of pictures or a commemorative video.
Card making has become a hobby for some, more than it is a profession for others.
Some people, after all, are more expressive or more thoughtful than others.
While others prefer to buy cards and save themselves the trouble of buying materials and putting together cards, others feels that such an effort adds something extra to the celebration or to the sentiment.
There's also a creative aspect to it.
Some people are more talented at crafts than others, making them abler to put together cards worth keeping.
When a card is made as a labor of love, it conveys more in terms of meanings and messages, through a variety of ways.
A hand-made card allows one to personalize its contents and design.
It reflects its maker's personality, his/her sentiments, or the emotions he/she feels while making a card for an occasion.
Generic cards generally fail to encapsulate the meaning or value of a message, as some card makers are more adept at expression than others.
Card making helps make messages become clearer and more meaningful.
Handmade cards potentially communicate more meaning and are more likely to get the message across than store-bought cards.
In the same manner, these cards can show the significance of occasions and celebrations, and express more messages than other means with their overall theme.
