- 1). Unclip the visors located above the windshield and rotate them out of the way. Release the header latching mechanisms and unhook them from the windshield frame.
- 2). Open all of the doors, and untuck the sides of the soft top by inserting a finger into the gap between the front and back doors, and pulling the plastic drip retainers out of the lip. Repeat this step for both sides of the vehicle.
- 3). Grab the header and begin to fold it back, ensuring the soft top is folded properly as you go along. The soft top should fold into a "W" shape as you fold it back. You will have to form the "W" using your hands as you fold.
- 4). Open the tailgate of the Jeep and let it swing all the way open. Leave it open for the entire soft top lowering process. Open the first couple of inches of the sail panel from the sides of the bottom of the rear window, exposing the ends of the zipper.
- 5). Unzip about two or three inches of the zipper starting on the right side of the window. Remove the tailgate bar from its cradles by pulling it straight toward you (away from the Jeep). Let the bar hang from the window freely.
- 6). Unzip the rest of the window. When you get to the end of the zipper on the left side, tug the window downward to disconnect the zipper. Remove the window and store it in a safe place to avoid scratches or other damage.
- 7). Remove the side quarter windows by detaching the Velcro, and unzipping the zippers. Untuck the bottom plastic retainer from the body, as well as the side retainer on the edge of the rear door panel. Remove the window and repeat for both sides.
- 8). Untuck the sail panels from the body lips and fold them on top of the rear of the soft top to get them out of the way. Unclip the soft top bracket on top of the Jeep by pressing the levers to release it.
- 9). Slide the bracket toward the back of the Jeep. As you get closer to the back, the soft top should fold nicely into the rear compartment. The side bow bars should form a "V" shape and rest on the inner sides of the Jeep.
- 10
Secure the side bow bars to the Jeep using a Velcro strap. Close the tailgate, close the doors and clip the sun visors back in. - 1). Grab the folded side bow bars of the soft top and lift them over the top of the Jeep. Make sure the tailgate is open when you lift the soft top up. Place the folded side bows on top of the Jeep (above the rear window frames), making sure the plastic retainers sit properly in the frame rails.
- 2). Slide the side bows forward until the retainers click into place under the metal clips. Open all of the doors.
- 3). Unfold the side bows, then unfold the soft top completely so that the header of the soft top rests near the top of the windshield. Make sure the plastic drip rail retainers (located on the edges of the soft top) aren't jammed between the top of the Jeep and the soft top. Also, make sure the ends of the second bow (located under the soft top) are resting properly on the sides of the soft top bracket.
- 4). Unfold the soft top latches and attach them to the soft top hooks located above the windshield. Do not fasten the latches yet. You may need to unclip the sun visors and move them out of the way in order to reach the latches.
- 5). Tuck the drip rail retainers underneath the plastic lips on the tops of the door frames. Do this on all four doors.
- 6). Unfold the sail panels (located in the back corners of the soft top), and tuck the bottoms into the retaining lips on the body of the Jeep. It may help to tuck them under starting from the back and working forward.
- 7). Install the side quarter windows by starting the zipper and zipping it an inch or two toward the rear of the Jeep. Tuck the side retainer into the side of the door frame, making sure you roll the lip over enough to secure the retainer in the frame.
- 8). Continue zipping the zipper until you reach the corner of the window. Tuck the bottom retainer of the window under the metal lip on the body of the Jeep. Finish zipping the zipper, and tuck the top of the window under the upper soft top material.
- 9). Velcro the rest of the window to secure it in place. Repeat steps 7-9 for the other side window.
- 10
Open the first couple of inches of the bottom of each sail panel at the rear of the Jeep. Connect the zipper of the rear window and zip it all the way around to the right side. - 11
Insert the bottom window bar into the plastic retainers on the sides of the rear Jeep body. Make sure it is secure. Tuck the sail panels back under the retaining lips on the body of the Jeep. - 12
Fasten the soft top latches located above the windshield and clip the sun visors back into their original location. Close all of the doors on the vehicle.
