How to Check an HDMI Cable

    • 1). Check the HDMI cable to make sure it is inserted into both HDMI connection ports (one on the TV, the other on the source device). If the cable is not inserted completely, the audio/video signal is not going to reach the TV.

    • 2). Disconnect the HDMI cable from the equipment and look over the metal connectors. If the connector is dirty the audio/video signal is not going to transfer properly. Wipe this off with a damp cloth to clean the connector, but do not connect the cable back into the TV until the cable is dry.

    • 3). Spray a few shots of compressed air into the HDMI connection port on the TV and other source device. If dust or other debris is stuck inside, the video and audio signal is never gong to reach the TV.

    • 4). Disconnect the HDMI cable from the TV, then plug it into a different HDMI port on the system. It is possible the specific HDMI connection port is damaged, causing the TV to not receiver the A/V signal.
