Barlow House Room

Barlow House is the modern extension and has the majority of the hotel guest rooms. More below...

The historic building has the Victorian 'chamber suites' while Barlow House, the modern extension at the back, has the majority of the guest rooms (over 200 rooms). Barlow House is not Victorian and instead has a contemporary design.

In modern Barlow House the ceilings are not as high and the ground floor rooms actually felt a bit dark after seeing the double height ceilings of the chamber suites but as you go up the floors of the building the rooms are much lighter as are the corridors.

I did notice the modern rooms didn't have baths as well as showers, and the shower-heads weren't as big, but it was all wonderfully clean.

The rooms are more of a standard size but do feel a bit cramped; I think this is partially to do with the fashion for enormous beds these days.
