Straight hair is a style that never goes out of fashion, but sometimes adding a curly texture is just what you need to stand out. The great thing about hair irons is that you can use them for both of these styles, although some are better designed for it than others.
Regular hair irons are usually very square and have sharp edges, while modern styling irons have curved edges so that hair can glide around them and get a better shape. Take a look at the Karmin G3 for a good idea of what a styling iron should have. This great flat iron is perfect for straightening and styling and its pure ceramic tourmaline plates are a dream to use on all hair types.
So once you have a good flat iron, here's how to use it to give you hair a curly boost:
1. Apply a heat protectant to shield your hair from damage, then gently comb through your hair to untangle your locks and make it smoother to pass through the hair iron.
2. If your hair already has a curly or wavy texture then straighten your hair first. This will make curling easier.
3. Section your hair horizontally in as many layers as you consider necessary. If your hair is thick then you'll need more sections. Leave the section at the nape of your neck loose and clip up the rest of your hair.
4. Set your hair hair iron to the right temperature for your hair (below 200°F for thin hair and over 320°F for thick hair). Take a thick section of hair if you want loose curls or a thin section for tighter curls and clamp the flat iron vertically as near to the scalp as possible, then turn it forwards 180 degrees and with your spare hand wrap the rest of the clamped section of hair around the hair iron. Run the flat iron downwards until you reach the ends. Do this slowly for tighter curls and faster for looser curls. If it doesn't come out right the first time just straighten the section and try again, maybe vary the angle of the hair iron.
5. Keep sectioning and curling until you've finished the whole layer. Then unclip another layer and carry on. Do this until you have a whole head of curls, you might want to tousle them with your fingers to give them a more natural look.
So give your hair a volume boost and your style a makeover by using a good flat iron that curls to get beautiful looks any day of the week.
