- WiLife allows you to monitor and record six locations in real time. You can search for, play back and manage recorded video, receive email alerts when the camera picks up motion and set unique motion detection zones for each camera. Also, you can see the video on the Internet and on some phones. The supplied software allows you to modify camera settings, manage the recording schedule and other functions. Logitech say that its system can be set up in 15 minutes without special tools, running wires or drilling holes.
- The software installation CD will guide you through the installation with a series of prompts. Follow the prompts to set disk use options, create a remote viewing account, test, connect the USB adaptor and name the cameras.
- The standard installation of this system allows for streaming video to be transmitted over the home's electrical wiring. The system is supplied with a USB receiver that picks up the transmission from the remote camera via power line. The receiver should be plugged into the wall adjacent to the PC, and then the receiver should be plugged into the PC.
- The cameras will need to be mounted at your remote locations. One good rule of thumb is to choose entry and exit points of your home. In many cases, even if the intruder came in via a window, they'll leave through a door. The camera power supply will need to be plugged into an outlet, then use the camera cable to connect the power supply to the camera.
Mounting option include the suction cup, which mounts the camera to a window. You may need two people to focus cameras that are remote from the PC.
Name the cameras. You might have to refer to the instructions for any firewall issues that come up. - The Command Center allows for two basic views--live view and playback. You can set e-mail alerts, view live video, turn cameras on and off, e-mail an image, pan, tilt and zoom, play clips, print and check online storage.
