- 1). Enter the package recipient's name (or company name) and address. Provide a telephone number and email address if you'd like added ways in which UPS may contact the recipient, in case of a problem. Save the address for future use by selecting the menu below "Save Options for Address" and highlighting "Save As New Entry."
- 2). Select the number of packages you want to send. Indicate which type of UPS package your shipment is in by selecting an option from the menu for "Packaging Type." Options include "UPS Express Box- Small," "UPS Tube" and "UPS Letter."
Selecting a package type opens up a new package information section. Enter the package's weight (in pounds), its dimensions and the package "Declared Value" (in dollars). The package's declared value is the approximate worth of the contents of the package. UPS keeps this information on record, in case the package is destroyed by their negligence, thus requiring a reimbursement. - 3). Select how you would like to ship the package by choosing an option from the Service menu. Options include UPS Next Day Air, UPS 2nd Day Air and UPS Ground Service. If you're unfamiliar with the differences between the services, click the Compare Service Options link.
Click the appropriate check box next to any additional services you might need on your order. Options include Saturday delivery, delivery confirmation and delivery without signature.
You have the option of adding personalized reference numbers to the package for tracking purposes. The reference numbers may be any combination of letters and numbers that don't exceed 35 characters. An example would be "Mom's Christmas gift." - 4). Select the method of delivery payment from the "Bill Shipping Charges to" menu. The chosen option opens up a new information section that allows you to enter the details about your credit card, for example, to make a payment.
Click the box next to "Schedule a UPS On-Call Pickup" to have UPS pick up the package at your home or work. Click Next and finalize the order. Keep a copy of the confirmation page for your records.
