Are you about to embark on the mammoth mission of a ballerina party? We have been there and the following article can give you some ideas to make it easy and affordable! We started with a large square table, we made this by sticking to small children's trestle table together and covered it with a plain pink tablecloth (plastic and easy to wipe, a must have item!!) we then arranged the chairs around with the birthday girls at center stage!! We did a back drop of streamers in two different pinks and made these look different by cutting them ourselves from folded sheets of crepe paper and cutting curved lines so when hanging they seemed to be moving, it looked fab!! We then hung the birthday banner (a tutu banner with pink ribbon and sparkly pink writing) on the crepe back ground.
The table was set with matching tutu plates and cups and hot pink napkins.
Now this is a lot of pink right? So we got some lovely bright turquoise sequins (large ones) and sprinkled them over the table for some contrast.
The middle of the large square table is looking quite bare at this stage but that is the perfect place for the centre piece and most important party item...
the cake!! We made the cake ourselves by starting with two large sponge cakes and making a square two tiered cake ( matches the table shape!!) and then iced with plain butter cream icing followed by rolled pink fondant icing.
Then a large wide sequined ribbon goes around each layer and some little ballerinas in pose sit on top.
All pale pink and pretty with a touch of sequins! The finishing touches around the table are pink and white balloons and handmade tutu skirts (easy to make, just strips of colored netting tied onto a waistband) on each chair waiting for the guests! This whole effect is soft and delicate with the touches of ballerina things and is easy to set up and do yourself! We had martini glasses filled with different colored sweets at each corner of the cake and the whole effect was just perfect for any girl who loves dancing and ballerinas in general! The best part about this party is that it took some time and love to put together but not a lot of money! The girls were so impressed and so were the other mum's, I hope this has inspired you for your next ballerina party!
