Skulls are quite a popular thing to draw for many various artists.
They have a stake in what most of us find frightening and therefore are perfect to draw when trying to draw something scary for friends, family, or even yourself.
Before we start I would suggest looking around online at various skulls that you find to be frightening and fun in their own regard so you have something to look at when trying to create and design your own.
You aren't going to want to copy what you found but it is a good idea to see what others have drawn and how they have represented it.
Then we will discuss how to draw a scary skull.
First off you are going to want to have the necessary tools for basic drawing.
A pencil, piece of paper, and perhaps any coloring utensils that you may want to use.
Start by drawing the basic outline of the skull shape that you want to create.
We will add the effects and the "scare" later on.
Make sure to draw lightly in case there is anything that you decide you may want to change later on.
That way you can erase it more easily without having large streak marks.
Then continue by adding the features of the skull; eye holes, nose, mouth etc.
Followed by shading the sections of the skull that are darker or more indented like the cheek bones.
The next step in the process is adding all of the special effects that will in fact make your drawing of the skull scary.
You can add shadows, blood, bugs, spikes just to name a few things that tend to make people afraid of something.
Really use your imagination and add as much or as little as you think is appropriate to the drawing.
