Solar powered post lights are a variety of solar light, which come in a particular form factor, and with certain functions in mind.
Of course, like other solar lights, they are basically products designed to illuminate particular areas, usually for reasons relating to security or safety, but also with an eye toward ambiance and atmosphere.
Also like other solar lights, they usually have certain parts.
There is the part of the device which does the actual illuminating, usually in the form of light bulbs, also usually in the form of LED bulbs, because LEDs tend to give off good light, while consuming less power, and lasting far longer before having to be replaced.
There is also the part of the device which collects solar energy, usually in the form of a solar panel or an array of such panels.
These are positioned in a way which attempts to maximize their exposure to the sun during the day, so that there will ideally be enough energy accumulated to power the device throughout the night.
And then of course there is the frame of the device itself, and this is one way solar post lights distinguish themselves from related products.
Unlike other devices, solar post lights are not usually small products which are attached to a wall, or fence.
Instead, they tend to have the form factor of a post, and they are then usually attached to the ground, be it earth or concrete or something else, through the use of screws or bolts.
A firm means of attaching the post is important because the device must be able to remain vertically straight on its own, since it isn't usually leaning on anything else.
Other variants of post lights do not screw or bolt down into the ground, but instead come in the form of stakes which are then pushed firmly into the ground, in order to allow the device to stand steadily on its own.
So these devices are great when there's a need to light up an area, which doesn't have an adjoining wall or other vertical surface that a device can be attached to.
The functions that these devices tend to serve include lighting up the front of a house, including the road and sidewalk.
They can also be used to illuminate yards and lawns, whether at the front of the house, the rear or the side.
Basically, since they can stand on their own, these devices are quite flexible in terms of location.
