- Summertime Is The Season For Outdoor Hippie Festivalshippie image by Ewe Degiampietro from Fotolia.com
Carrying on in the spirit of the Woodstock Festival of 1969, peaceful outdoor summertime festivals are easy to find. Some are smaller affairs largely attended by locals, others are multi-day music extravaganzas attended by tens of thousands of people. Frequently, these festivals are not only multi-day music fests, but also opportunities to become socially and politically involved with a number of organizations who set up information booths at such festivals. - The Moonlight Body, Mind, Spirit Festival takes place every October, and while musicians do perform here, this is one festival that isn't organized around a packed roster of headlining acts. The main focus of this festival centers on healing, spirituality, healthy and green living. A number of workshops and informal lectures are offered on topics such as acupuncture, massage, reiki and reflexology.
Author readings, arts and crafts booths and healthy food kiosks are also present at the Moonlight Body, Mind, Spirit Festival.

Past performers have included Levon Helm (of The Band), Derek Trucks, Les Claypool (of Primus) and Toots and the Maytals, all of whom perform on an amphitheatre which provides visual access to all concertgoers.
Camping is allowed on the premises, with certain rules and regulations, and the on-site ski lodge provides accommodations for the thousands of patrons who've managed to get a reservation months in advance.
There are a number of food kiosks which serve vegetarian and meat based foods; arts and crafts booths; and tents dispensing information and literature on environmental, spiritual, health, political and social issues.
