3. There are banks in Bhutan like the Bank of Bhutan Limited, the Bhutan National Bank, the Druk PNB, and the Tashi Bank from which people can encash their traveler's checks to local currencies. ATMs also honor Visa and Mastercard cards.

4. Power voltage in Bhutan is 220V/240V and sockets require plugs with two round-hole pins or three flat pins. Multi-sockets are available in hotels though.

5. Bhutanese cuisine usually includes rice.

6. It is not advisable to drink tap water in Bhutan as it is admittedly untreated. To be safe, buy bottles of mineral water from convenience stores.

7. Tipping is okay among people in Bhutan. However, it is advised that one puts it in an envelope.

8. Weather in Bhutan varies depending on where you will stay. Due to the high altitude, the northern part of the kingdom can be very cold even during summer; while the southern part can be hot and humid.

9. Public holidays are spent with full enthusiasm by the locals. People gather together in front of their temples or monasteries to celebrate the usually religious events. As a tourist, it would be best to witness these events.

10. Photography is permitted in Bhutan. However, it is best to check on your tour guides first before bringing out the camera and taking pictures. It is not allowed in some places, particularly in temples and monasteries.

11. Shopping in Bhutan may be a little unusual as clothing isn't really the main attraction here; but the artworks and handicraft items are the popular buys. There are woven silk, carved masks of animals, paintings, and Buddhist thangka paintings available. It is also to be made known that buying and selling antiques in Bhutan is strictly prohibited.
