Although its release has been overshadowed slightly by the release of the Motorola Droid, the Blackberry Storm 2 has quietly shown itself to be an excellent device.
More importantly, its proven itself to be far better than the original, which left many people quite unhappy with a Blackberry touch screen device.
While the Blackberry Storm was hampered with bugs, a slow operating system, and a questionable click screen, the new second version has addressed all of these issues, and is simply an excellent device.
The Blackberry Storm 2, like the original is not exactly a lightweight phone.
Because it is jam packed with functionality and multimedia features galore, it does require some extensive hardware, which makes the device a bit heavy.
However, it is still very capable of fitting nicely in the pocket without it feeling intrusive.
The device differs from the original in that it uses virtual buttons, even for making and end calls.
This allows you to access the phones content much better, in a nature that is similar to the iPhone.
The screen, which is not only large, but has an excellent resolution, is noted by its multi-touch capabilities.
What this means is that you can touch it in multiple places at once and it will register both touches.
If you are worried about user error or accidental dialing when the device is in your pocket or purpose, you will find yourself relieved to know that the Storm 2 does have a lock feature that will prevent it from being accessed when needed.
Perhaps the most important feature of the Blackberry Storm 2 is the introduction of the Blackberry OS 5.

The new operating system has revamped the way the Storm 2 works, and makes the overall experience infinitely better.
Also, the camera on the phone is considered to be improved with the utilization of a better lens.
The phone still packs extensive internal memory with the option of expanding the memory via microSD to astronomical levels.
Finally, the battery life of the Storm 2 is seemingly much improved over the original, which had some issues and for many, did not last beyond one day.
While you may be eying the Droid for your holiday gift request, don't rule out the Blackberry Storm 2, as it has silently found itself as one of the best devices on the market.
