  Locals call the vast Cleveland Metroparks system in northeast Ohio "The Emerald Necklace." Trails span 110 miles along the historic Erie and Ohio Canals. You can rent bikes and ride along the pathways to view nature at its finest. You may see blue herons, deer and even an eagle's nest. If biking isn't your thing, a long hike on one of the parks' intricate hiking trails may suit your fancy. In the Cuyahoga Valley, the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad takes riders through the rolling hills of the park system. The train makes trips from various points along the park. The railroad offers packages such as the Akron Explorer, which includes a visit to the Akron Art Museum, Akron Zoo, Hale Farm and Village or the Spaghetti Warehouse.
