House owners will tell you how hard it is to be dealing with pests. But relatively, dealing with pests at home can be achieved easily. Making sure that the pests do not have access to shelter, food and water is the basic principle to pest elimination in the area. But if this measure is not enough, we may need to resort to controlling them using some insecticides. Read on to know more about some of the different insecticides available today.
Number one type is the insect repellant. An insect repellant, or more commonly known as bug spray, is not really an insecticide. You have to apply it on your skin or spray it on your clothes to make sure that you are protected from insects. This is an effective way to repel mosquitoes of you still have them at home. Repellants were invented to make sure that you do not get bitten by mosquitoes and other insects.
You will be familiar with the aerosol insecticide sprays. You can use this aerosol spray by targeting the insects in the place where they are seen. You can also spray it on their nest or home and it will be also as effective. However, you need to take some precaution when using this type of insecticide. It may be dangerous if it is inhaled or eaten. Be sure that you use the aerosols in well ventilated areas only. Or if it can't be helped, make sure that no one enters the room where you have recently sprayed on.
Third are the solid insecticides. These solid insecticides are for bigger pests like rats and mice. It basically entices the pest to eat it, and then when eaten, it takes a few hours before it kills the pest. This is a very effective way of killing rats because it can really kill them when they eat it. It is important though that you label the poison clearly so that no one will mistake it for anything else.
