A Basic Guide To Washer Dryers

In many homes our kitchens can be pushed for space, there are many appliances well need and use every day from dishwashers to refrigerators and sometimes in smaller kitchens we may not be able to comfortably fit everything in easily. There are smaller or space saving versions of many appliances as well as some appliances that can be combined such as a fridge that has a freezer compartment or ice box and washer dryers that can easily be combined.

Washer Dryers are the ideal solution for people with smaller homes or even people who dont want to spend extra money on two separate appliances. The convenience of having both appliances in one also means you can load up your washing, set both cycles to run and then when the machine is finished you should have clean, dry clothing.

There are some features you should be aware of as by combining the two there are some tradeoffs such as smaller drum sizes than regular tumble dryers, this means that there is less airflow and less room for your clothes to actually tumble which could mean more creases in your clothing. This may mean you have to use less packed loads of clothing in order for them to be effectively washed and dried at once. Typically your drying load should be half of what your usual washing load is.

There are features such as high speed spin cycles that can help get your clothes dry quicker and this is important as washer dryers have had a reputation as being quite energy intensive so anything that can help wash and dry your clothes quicker is a must when it comes to energy usage.

Some people have said that you should only buy a washer dryer if you absolutely have to, they use more water and energy than two separate appliances but in some households you may find that there is not enough room for both appliances and you dont have a utility room or garage to store them in. There are other reasons that getting separate appliances can be preferable such as repairs, if your washer dryer breaks down then you cant even use either functionality, at least with separate appliances youd be able to carry on with either just the washing machine and dry your clothes on the washing line or use the dryer to dry clothes that you have had to wash by hand.
