Renowned equally for his songwriting as his singing expertise, Barry Manilow is an icon in modern American music. When Frank Sinatra was asked for his opinion on Manilow, Sinatra replied, "He's next." Manilow is an award-winning composer and has sold over 80 million albums worldwide. For 2013, he returns to his hometown of New York City, bringing his chart-topping hits to the Great White Way for the first time in two decades.


Mainlow on Broadway features renowned Grammy Award-winngin songwriter and consummate entertainer Barry Manilow for a special concert series at the St. James Theatre, located at 246 West 44th Street.

A native of New York City, Manilow attended New York College as well as the prestigious Juilliard School while working the humble job of mail room clerk at CBS studios. From there, he was tapped as the musical director for "Callback," a show on CBS that could be considered the grandma of the popular hit audition spectacle "American Idol."

Striking out on his own in the world of popular music and paying homage to the American classics, Manilow put his own stamp on contemporary music and earning 50 Top 40 hits. Of those, 25 songs were consecutive Top 40 hits on the Billboard's Hot 100 between the years 1975 and 1983.

Barry Manilow is ranked as the top-selling Adult Contemporary artist of all time, according to R&R (Radio & Records) statistics. Some of his famous tunes include "Mandy," "It’s A Miracle," "Could It Be Magic," "I Write the Songs," "Tryin’ to Get the Feeling Again," "This One’s For You," "Weekend In New England," "Looks Like We Made It," "Can’t Smile Without You," "Even Now," as well as the Grammy Award-winning "Copacabana (At the Copa)."

Previews began on January 18, 2013, to great acclaim. The official Opening Night of Mainlow on Broadway was delayed when Manilow came down with bronchitis. On doctor's orders, he had to postpone the January 24th opening to January 29, 2013. The show extended a few times and will now run through March 2, 2013.

On January 22, Todd Asher, Deputy Commissioner of the New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, held a ceremony, unveiling a new street sign and dubbing West 44th Street at 7th Avenue as "Manilow Way."
