- 1). Look to see if the refrigerator is properly plugged in and that local fuses or circuit breakers do not need to be reset if the ice maker is not working. If the refrigerator is not turned on, the ice maker will not function.
- 2). Ensure the water supply is properly connected to the refrigerator and the water valves are turned on. Gently remove any kinks in the water lines that may prevent water from moving properly to the ice maker.
- 3). Locate the power switch to the ice maker on the upper top right hand side of the freezer if the ice maker is still not functioning. Turn the power switch "On" and allow up to 24 hours for the ice maker to produce ice, especially if the refrigerator is new and the ice maker has not previously been in use.
- 4). Keep the freezer door closed for several hours if the ice maker is not working or is producing small quantities of ice, as this indicates a warm temperature inside the freezer compartment. Opening the freezer door frequently may cause a delay in ice production.
- 5). Throw away the first several batches of ice when the refrigerator is in use for the first time and discard any ice batches that have a poor taste or odor. Clean the ice bin with a damp cloth and wait several hours for a new batch to be produced. Note that open containers in the freezer or particularly strong-smelling foods in the compartment may cause a flavor or smell in the ice.
- 6). Use your fingers to clear any blockages if the ice maker is operating properly but no ice is dispensed. Ice cubes may occasionally clog the dispenser, preventing ice from exiting the ice maker properly.
