Who can remember back to July of 2010? Apple had just released the iPhone 4 and was holding a press conference to address some of the issues that users were experiencing with the new device.
At this event Apple dropped the bombshell that has excited loyal iPhone users and would be converts alike.
The white iPhone 4 would be appearing soon.
In fact, the release date was set for the end of July.
Now flash forward to the present.
It is currently October and leaves are starting to fall from the trees and Halloween costumes are being purchased.
The iPhone 4 can be found everywhere one looks with one inauspicious detail.
They are all black iPhones.
Three months and numerous let downs later we still have no definitive release date for the White iPhone 4.
All that Apple will say is that the white version will be coming out "later this year.
" However, there is hope for those sitting and patiently waiting for the white version of the iPhone 4.
Two events have recently transpired that are leading people to believe that the white units will, in fact, be ready for purchase before Christmas.
The first action that got the web buzzing was a supposed leaked email from Steve Jobs to a high school student in answer to the question, "I want the white one but Apple said it wouldn't be ready until later in the year...
do you think we can expect to get the white iPhone for Xmas.
" The response from Jobs was "Christmas is later this year.
" The first question usually posed when reading this is, is this story true? Further investigation has found numerous sites claiming both sides.
More than one site is taking credit for producing the fake email and response while others are claiming the response from Jobs is absolutely true and verified.
There has been nothing as far as a statement from Apple regarding this issue that people have been talking about refuting the correspondence.
So, if we assume it is true, the response seems to indicate that the white iPhone 4 will be released and ready for Christmas.
The other news story that has people ready to break out their wallets and get the white iPhone is actually a picture.
The picture surfaced early last week from an anonymous Wal-Mart in the U.
S.
showing spaced reserved for the white iPhone 4.
The sticker, as seen below, is for a 16GB white iPhone selling for $197 with a two year plan from AT&T.
Where there are usually countless sites claiming that the image is a fake there have been relatively few with this one even though it would be very easy to Photoshop.
Once again, Apple and Wal-Mart have done nothing to squash the rumor.
Wal-Mart currently sells the black iPhone 4 so it is not far fetched at all that Walmart will also be carrying the white version and if space is being saved then the release should be imminent.
As the end of the year looms and stories like these two continue to break it seems more and more likely that the white iPhone 4 release date cannot be far off.
From a marketing standpoint it makes perfect sense for Apple to debut the white iPhone in time for the holiday shopping season.
Apple has proven time and time again that they are masters in product launches and "The White" is looking like it will be another blowout.
The excitement is growing and now the only thing left is for Apple to give us a solid date for release.
Until then everyone can only give their best guess as to what the release date will be.
