- 1). Find the breaker that regulates the power going to the dishwasher and turn the breaker off. Many dishwashers are directly connected to the electrical system and have no electrical plug to disconnect.
- 2). Open the door to the dishwasher and sop up any standing water left in the basin with a towel.
- 3). Remove the bottom panel form the dishwasher to expose the drain connection. You need a screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the panel in place.
- 4). Loosen the screw that holds the band clamp around the drain hose at the water pump under the dishwasher and pull off the hose. Have a container ready to catch water that will drain from the hose and the dishwasher pump.
- 5). Loosen the screw that holds the band clamp around the drain hose at the sink's drain and pull the hose off the sink.
- 6). Pull out the drain hose and run pressurized water through the drain hose until the clog comes out. A garden hose works well for this process.
- 7). Slide the drain hose back into place and secure the hose to the sink's drain and to the washing machine's pump.
- 8). Place the front cover onto the dishwasher and secure it with the screws and screwdriver.
