HubPages is a site allowing you to write, comment or discuss anything from playing pinball to pretty politicians and it is extremely easy to use so even the internet newbie can use it straight away as can the seasoned professional.
The tools which exist on this site for your use are certainly not high techie type tools, rather they are down to earth and very much user friendly.
Having said all that, like most other worthwhile sites being used by the public, this site does have some rules and regulations and there are ways of working it to your benefit.
In other words there are do's and dont's.
Here we can take a look at some of them to start you off if you're a newbie and to help you further if you're that seasoned pro.
OK it is probably best to start with an overview of just what Hubpages is all about.
A hub itself is just like a web page and is filled with information that you have written about any subject, well almost any subject but more on that later.
The great thing about writing your information in a hub is that there is so much you can do to make it interesting for the reader and we all know that relevant interest creates those all important buying customers.
In addition to writing content, you can add pictures to gloss it up or add them just to push your point home, and of course you can put that link in there taking the user straight to your website.
Plus there's more.
On Hubpages you can add video content to your page or article and you know that folk just love to watch a video.
Don't forget that if you make that video relevant and interesting leaving the viewer grasping for more information, then they will be able to click on that link you put in the video to again, take them straight to your website.
Furthermore, you can even put your favourite YouTube video or Google video on Hubpages for that extra effect and if you didn't know, you can put your photo's on there from your digital camera, your computer or directly from the web itself, as long as there is no copyright of course.
To get your message out there, you can on Hubpages invite others to leave a comment on your own hub or of course you can comment on others or indeed ask a question.
You will in no time at all build up a relationship with other like minded individuals.
Now here is the really good bit about this site.
In addition to having access to social bookmarking tools, each time you write content, Hubpages will notify all your readers of your new publication! Wow.
But it doesn't stop there folks.
As you are writing your new content with all it's images, information and video's, the techie's at Hubpages are busily making sure that Google, Yahoo and other search engines find you.
Excellent or what? And there's even more.
You can earn some cash by displaying Google and Kontera ads on your content page and they even put the ad on for you plus it will be such as is relevant to your content.
In this activity, remember it is always the same ruling.
Let your content be relevant, fresh and up to date and this being the case your association with Hubpages will be ongoing in order to keep it up to date etc.
Let your links be relevant also and don't overload your page with links as it is frowned upon and you may if you continue the practice be eventually closed with none of your hubs being published.
If you're a business you will undoubtedly want to use the site to make money and the same rules will apply here as they do on other sites.
Do not blatantly promote yourself.
It is unwelcome and frowned upon.
Simply discuss your topic and point the reader to your one or two links.
If you have made the content relevant and interesting he or she will click on the link without your prodding anyway.
Whatever you do, do not write about adult themed topics such as pornography, descriptions of sexual acts or practices or excessive profanity.
Do not write about gambling either, however discussions of gambling rules, strategies, or events are deemed acceptable.
There are other things you need to be aware of also.
Make sure your content is sufficient.
If it is too small it will not be accepted.
Do not copy others' works.
Your website needs also to be of good quality because if it isn't then your content will not be accepted.
The same goes for any other site you link to - it needs to be of good quality, while the links themselves must certainly not be deceptive.
Take the person to the place you said you would take them.
It has to be said that if you use your common sense then you will keep to these few rules anyway especially as they are fair and easy to keep to.
This is an extremely exciting site and allows you to truly shine in whatever cause you are associated with.
Use it wisely and your cause can only but grow.
