Entrepreneurialism is, for many, a must.
It is the refusal to sit in the cubicle wearing the bad golf shirt and writing reports about what happened between 3:15 and 3:25 that day.
Being in control of your work life is a freedom that is probably worth tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars to those who've attained it.
It is breathing in a different type of oxygen than those confined to corporate structure and servitude.
The issue is NOT that an entrepreneur can start his or her day when the mood hits, as studies have long proven that entrepreneurs actually work longer and harder than their unfortunate fellows who clock in from 9 to 5.
Why? Because it means more to them.
Each movement of the small hand of the clock is seen as opportunity when your own business.
Ask the corporate type what the little hand does and you'll hear "the damn thing NEVER moves fast enough.
" That's no way to live for those who want to express their business lives in earnest.
This is hardly to say that corporate life is jail.
It's simple to suggest that entrepreneurialism seems to some of like a hostage trying to get out at any cost.
Nineteen years at some of the biggest advertising agencies on the planet, staying at some hotels that cost upwards of $1700 a night seem, from the outside, like heaven...
and to many of my associates, it was and still is.
But the 'e' factor within me had to get out...
and get out it did.
Now as my days are spent blissfully negotiating the ins and outs of autoresponder emails for client after satisfied client, those in my circle can see the huge difference.
Talk about relief.
Entrepreneurialism is surely not for everyone.
Then again, not everyone is everyone.
Right?
