Easy & Inexpensive Holiday Kids' Crafts

    New Year Craft

    • Create a dove of peace by drawing the body of the dove on white paper and then folding up a piece of paper as if you were creating a fan. Cut out the body of the dove with scissors and place the center of the fan on the top of the dove. The fan will represent the wings of the dove. Alternate craft ideas include creating a January calendar on a piece of white paper and decorating it with crayons and markers to display "Happy New Year" across the top.

    Christmas Craft

    • Create a pom-pom Christmas tree to send to friends as a card. Cut the shape of a triangle on green construction paper. Cut the shape of a smaller rectangle on brown construction paper and tape the two pieces of construction paper together to form a tree. Glue green pom-poms onto the tree and glue a different colored pom-pom on the top of the tree. Glue small multi-colored pom-poms onto the tree to represent Christmas bulbs.

    Easter Craft

    • Create Easter cards. Ideas can include a chick in a nest made out of artificial flowers, feathers and modeling clay glued together. You can also create a card with a bunny jumping into a pot by using clay to shape the pot on the card, white pom-poms to create the bunny's bottom and feet, and a few pieces of craft grass to help decorate the pot.

    Fourth of July Craft

    • Create Fourth Of July stars to hang on a porch or in an entry way for decoration. Gather red, white and blue construction paper. Draw star shapes in various sizes on the construction paper and cut them out. Punch holes with your scissors into one tip of each star and guide some thread through the holes. Hold all the strings in your hand so that the stars dangle, and tie the tops of the strings together. Hang the star mobile on a hook to add festivity to any occasion.

    Thanksgiving Craft

    • Create a sunflower of thanks to show how your family is thankful for what it already has. Get some yellow construction paper and draw teardrop shapes with a marker. Cut them out. These will become the petals of the sunflower. Glue them onto a paper plate. Have each family member write down what he is thankful for on each petal. Draw a stem on green construction paper and cut it out. Glue the stem to the sunflower.
