How to Tie a Chinese Crown Knot

    • 1). Find the center of the cord by folding it in half. Place a pin under the center of the cord and lay it flat towards you to create a long, thin loop. Pull the right-hand strand out to the right to create a long, thin loop to the right. Pull the left-hand strand to the left, creating a long, thin loop to the left. Secure these two loops with pins as well.

    • 2). Place a screwdriver across the two strands, just below the right and left loops. Take the ends of the cord and place them up over the opening of the right-hand loop.

    • 3). Fold the right-hand loop across the ends of the cord so that it lays in the open space between the top and left-hand loops. Pin it into place.

    • 4). Bring the top loop down over both of the other loops until it is facing towards you. Pin it into place.

    • 5). Pull the left-hand loop to the right, bringing it through the space occupied by the screwdriver. Remove the screwdriver.

    • 6). Pull the loops and ends to create a tight knot in the middle.

    • 7). Repeat Steps 2 through 6 to create a second knot on top of the first one. Tighten the second knot slightly.

    • 8). Flip the knot over and find the four extra strands that do not appear on the front. Gently pull the four loops out to create four small petals. Finish tightening the knot.
