Probiotics For Good Health

Probiotics For Good Health

We are all familiar with the fact that a definite proportion of bacteria in our bodies play a significantly important role, but when we have too much bacteria in our bodies it can harm us as well.

Bacteria are present in major organs like urinary area, intestinal tract and many other places, but probiotic's are a kind of bacteria that has proven to be very advantageous to humans.

Introduction to Probiotics

The reproduction of harmful bacteria can only be stopped if acidity of the intestine is increased and probiotics help to maintain a balance by producing compounds like hydrogen peroxide and lactic acid.

They have proven to be of great help as it hold backs the growth of detrimental bacteria, enhances the functioning of immune system, encourages good digestion and helps the body to fight diseases.

Usually, the capability to fight diseases begins to slow down when we start aging and this is the reason, elderly people are recommended to consume probiotic food on a regular basis. This bacterium has notably helped to prevent the vaginal yeast infection and also keeps away traveller's diarrhoea that is generally caused due to contaminated water or undercooked foodstuff.

Deficiency of Probiotics

Presently, many people are in the habit of consuming fast food and so most of them are deprived of all those nutrients that balanced diet provides. The intake of balanced diet helps people to improve their immune system and for all those people who do not consume a balanced diet regularly, get deficient of probiotics.

Furthermore, many people are prescibed antibiotics for various infections and as such will become prone to deficiency of gut flora. In addition to this, people suffering from diarrhoea also lack in probiotics. Therefore it is highly suggested to take these in some form, in either food or supplements.

Probiotic Food

Since 1920, people around the world started taking acidophilus milk in order to tolerate milk when they were facing any kind of difficulty to digest it. Yoghurt also facilitated people to fulfil the deficiency of probiotics in their bodies, as it involved lactobacillus acidophilus.

In addition to this, some other probiotic food incorporated oats, honey, goat's milk, miso soup, fruits, several pickles and soft cheese.

Consuming Probiotics

It is necessary to take appropriate amount of probiotics, that is, only a particular amount should be consumed as the body requires and this can be best guided by a doctor or nutritionist. Approximately 2 billion CFU's (colony forming units) of acidophilus produced by probiotics are the minimum requirement for a body's immune system to get healthier and respond actively to disease and viruses.

Acidophilus helps to manufacture niacin, folic acid, Vitamin B6 and Biotin in the body. When probiotics are taken in an increased amount, then it can result in fungal infection and lead to impair immune function.

So, if you also find it difficult to fight infections, consult your doctor and ask about taking probiotic supplements so as to maintain healthy immune system if you have not already done so or been advised to do so.
