- 1). Connect the audio output jack from the Sirius vehicle display unit to the auxiliary jack on the front face of your car stereo equalizer. If your vehicle does not have an auxiliary jack, you can connect the display unit to the FM Direct Adapter that is included with the installation kit. This adapter generates a local FM radio signal to transmit sound information from the Sirius receiver to your car radio.
- 2). Place the two antennas included in the box at opposite ends of the car. The required minimum distance between the two antennas is 24 inches; anything less will disrupt the service. When you have determined the ideal locations, attach the antennas directly to the interior ceiling of the vehicle using the adhesive backing. Newer models of the Sirius Backseat TV system feature magnetic antennas in addition to the traditional adhesive backing. These antennas are used on the exterior of the vehicle and mount using an extremely strong magnetic connection.
- 3). Connect the antenna to the input port on the rear side of the Backseat TV receiver box.
- 4). Insert one end of the three-pronged A/V composite cable into the A/V Out ports on the front of the receiver box. Be sure to place each prong in the color-coded port on the receiver. Connect the other end of the composite cable to the A/V In ports on your vehicle screen.
- 5). Attach the IR sensor for the remote controls to your dashboard or center console. You'll want to choose a location that won't be blocked and is easily accessible to any passenger. Use the adhesive backing to mount the IR sensor when you have chosen an ideal location.
- 6). Decide on a location to install the tuner module. The tuner module is used to interpret the incoming signal from the antenna before transmitting the data to your receiver. The tuner module is sensitive to excessive heat and sunlight and should be placed in a location where it will not be kicked or dropped. Some wise options include the trunk or beneath the front passenger seat. The tuner module can be screwed into place if it will be in a permanent location, or it can be left sitting in an undisturbed area.
- 7). Open your vehicle's fuse box and insert the included fuses into open fuse slots. The main power harness fuse has a power filter on the front face that is used to connect to the power cord of the power harness. This will allow the power harness to draw power from the 12-volt battery pack. Connect the main power cord from the power harness to the AC adapter port on the rear of the Backseat TV receiver box. Once everything has been connected, you can start the ignition to test the functioning of your Backseat TV system.
