How to Find Areas

    • 1). Use the equation "Length X Width" to find the area of a room or a shape like a square or rectangle. Use a tape measure to find the length and width of your room and multiply the two measurements together to find the area.

    • 2). Use the equation "Pi X R squared" to find the area of a circle, or a room shaped like a circle. "R" stands for "Radius," which is the distance between the center of the circle and any point on the outer edge. "Pi" has a defined value of 3.14.

    • 3). Use the equation "0.5 X B X H" to find the area of a triangle. "B" is the base of the triangle and "H" is the height of the triangle. Multiply those two measurements together and multiply the result by 0.5 to find the area of the triangle or the triangle-shaped room.
