- 1). Tie a kite string to one of your weights. Tie several knots to make sure the string is secure prior to attaching balloons. Begin inflating your balloons using the helium tank.
- 2). Tie two balloons of same color together at the ends. Attach the balloons to the kite string, by tying and twisting the kite string around the attached knots of the two balloons. When you do this one balloon from each pair should be on either side of the string.
- 3). Make sure the balloons are attached securely and close together so you can't see in between the balloons. Continue this process until your arch is the desired size. You can determine if the arch is the right size or not by taking to end of your long line of balloons and holding it on the ground several feet away, and seeing if a tall enough arch forms.
- 4). Cut the end of the kite string once your balloon arch is the desired length. Tie the string to the second weight. From here you can move the entire arch to the desired location, or adjust the position of the second weight to make the arch taller or wider.
- 1). Purchase several large bundles of willow wands from a local craft store. Place several large pieces of willow wands into two different buckets filled with sand. Tie these willow wands together securely with craft wire.
- 2). Continue to tie large and small pieces of willow to the two long pieces of willow wands sitting in your buckets. Tie all of the pieces together with craft wire, and make a desired arch shape. The frame of your arch should be several willow wands thick, so the frame is sturdy, and you can easily weave decorations in and out of the willows. You can make a traditional arch shape or a squared off arch that looks more like a doorway.
- 3). Position your archway where you want it to be for prom. Lay out flowers, branches or other decorative items you want to add to your arch on the floor, arranging them as you want them to appear on the arch. Weave your artificial flowers in and in the willow wand frame to secure. Some flowers may need to be secured with craft wire or a hot glue gun.
- 4). Trim any extra long stems off the flowers or greenery in the archway. Fill in any gaps with extra greenery. Once all the flowers have been added, weave any ribbons or bows you wish to add to the archway around the outside of the arch.
- 5). Wrap cellophane or two large ribbons around the buckets, making them seem more decorative and having the buckets correspond with the theme of your arch.
