How to Change a 4-Prong Plug to a 3-Prong Plug on a GE Oven

    • 1). Loosen the screws holding the existing power cord on the terminal block in the back of the oven. Remove the plug and cord.

    • 2). Strip 5/8 inch of insulation from the ends of the three wires on the new power cord. You may not need to do this, as many cords come pre-stripped.

    • 3). Insert the bare end of the white wire under the center screw terminal and tighten the screw to hold the wire.

    • 4). Insert the bare ends of the two other wires under the screws on either side, one to each screw terminal. Tighten the screw to hold the wire.
