- Manufactured by the Ford Motor Company, the F-250 is part of the Super Duty line of F-series full-size trucks. In 2010, F-250 models were available in four trim levels -- XL, XLT, off-road Cabela and high-level Lariat -- and in regular cab, extended cab and crew cab passenger cabin styles. Engine options for 2011 F-250s are a 6.2-liter V8 and a 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbodiesel.
- The 2011 F-250 model's two engine options have similar horsepower but drastically different torque-generating capability. The 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbodiesel engine generates 390 horsepower at 2,800 rpm; it has combustion chamber displacement of 6,651cc, with bores of 3.9 inches and strokes of 4.25 inches. The engine's compression ratio is 16.2 to 1. The gasoline-powered 6.2-liter V8 produces 385 horsepower at 5,500 rpm. Its displacement is 6,210cc, its bore and stroke are 4.02 inches by 3.74 inches, and its compression ratio is 9.8 to 1.
- The 6.7-liter engine is capable of a maximum of 735 pound-feet of torque; the 6.2-liter has up to 405 pound-feet of torque.
- The 6.7-liter engine can generate its 735 pound-feet of torque working at rpm as low as 1,600 rpm. For the 6.2-liter engine to reach its maximum of 405 pound-feet of torque it must work at a rate of 4,500 rpm.
