The 2005 Kawasaki Ninja 636 is officially known as the 2005 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R. Many people refer to the motorcycle as the Ninja 636 because of its powerful 636-cc engine. The 636-cc engine was introduced in 2003 to replace the traditional 600-cc engine. Motorcycle enthusiasts viewed Kawasaki's decision to make a bigger engine as a response to the increased competition at the time. - The Ninja 636 has a transverse, four-stroke engine with a double overhead camshaft and four in-line cylinders. The engine has a four-valve cylinder head with a total of 16 valves. It has a displacement of 636 cubic centimeters, or 38.8 cubic inches. The bore/stroke is 2.68 by 1.72 inches. The engine is liquid cooled and has a compression ratio of 12.9-to-1. The engine uses fuel injection with four 1.5-inch throttle bodies.
