Building a gazebo can be really easy if you utilize some DIY gazebo blueprints properly.
It can be a 'one man' project that can be completed in several weekends or a quicker project when done in a group.
You can even consider utilizing a pre-made gazebo kit to make the construction even easier.
Today we will be exploring a simple 3 step method of constructing a standard structure on your own using a pre-made gazebo kit.
Identify the Position for the Project and Lay the Posts The first step will be to identify where exactly you will be building your structure.
Identify and mark out the area with landscape marking paint for the deck as well as the planned position of the posts.
Proceed to clear the area of trees, bushes and debris.
Using a posthole auger, dig 30 inch holes in the ground for placing the posts in.
Plant each post straight in these holes and fill the holes with quick-setting cement to hold them in place.
Ensure that all posts are positioned straight and stand at the same height.
Cover remaining sections of the holes with soil and apply pressure to it to get it set.
Installing the Deck Floor and Frames Next we will be installing the floors by connecting cedar planks to the posts and securing them with decking screws.
You will need to ensure that the frame is completely level before proceeding to connect them together.
Safety is important! Before proceeding to cut the boards ensure that you are fully equipped with protective gear, such as safety glasses for your eyes and gloves for your hand.
Consider using weather resistant wood for your floor boards.
Cedar would be a good choice as it is durable and extremely attractive.
Use joists in the center to support the deck's framing as seen in your DIY gazebo blueprints.
Further support the floor by running a center post and adding cross supports.
Next, secure the cedar planks onto the frame with deck screws.
Assembling the Actual Building As soon as you complete installing the flooring for the deck it will be time to finally put the actual building together and get it all connected to the flooring.
Using the DIY gazebo blueprints that came in your gazebo kit, identify what each part is and where it should be connected.
Most of these kits come with manufacturer's instructions included in the package.
It would be wise to consult them before beginning your project as there are many styles that include instructions speaking of the recommended flooring to use for that specific design.
Locate the pieces of the set that should be used for the walls and proceed to fit the tongue and groove boards of each together to mount the walls.
Secure each corner with screws.
When all the walls have been mounted successfully, identify the pieces that should be used to construct the roof and assemble them on top of the walls.
Once again secure with screws.
Cover the roof with shingles and hold it in place with screws at certain intervals.
Finally, proceed to use screws to secure the structure to the floor boards then add steps to connect the high structure to the yard.
