Beating The Winter Blues

Part of the challenge of winter is the lack of color that comes with it. Depending on where you live, a blanket of snow can be beautiful to begin with, but then something that seemingly never stays that way. There are many ways to handle the drudge of the winter blues, and one of them is to add color into your life. So for your assistance and preparation for the coming months, I'm going to give you a handful of ideas that will help you to add some life to the dog days of winter. So lets get started!
Color is in everything. You don't have to have black and white and that's it. So consider getting flowers for your home every week. This means that you can buy them from the store fresh or have them artificial. There are benefits to both of these, consider that if they're artificial, there's no mess or water to worry about. Consider if their fresh, there's a smell that's hard to bet. Depending on the flowers, the strength of aroma will very. Also consider that real flowers (unless planted), will die after a short period of time. Artificial flowers will last indefinitely, but they also will collect dust and dirt. The choice is yours.
Consider growing fruits and vegetables. Use a grow box and then you won't have to worry about how cold it is outside. With grow boxes, you have two wonderful benefits: nutrition and beauty. Your nutrition will be challenged if you haven't decided to take in good nutrition during the winter. Part of that is by having fresh fruits and vegetables especially in the heat of winter. When the sun doesn't come out, vitamin D seems to be of great challenge. Part of that comes with the correct foods. Consider planting pumpkins, carrots, kale, peas, leeks, amaranth leaves.
Lastly consider adding color by lights internally and externally. This is a wonderful addition for holidays that come in the winter. Harvest or Halloween use orange, black and white lights. Thanksgiving can use the same color lights as Harvest and Halloween. For Christmas use green red and white 'frosting' lights.
As you can see, it's not hard to add colors and life to the winter months, it simply takes some thought and planning. If you should chose to start now, you'll be ahead of the pack, and then your holiday seasons won't be so traumatic. Some of the hecticness will be removed.
