- 1). Remove the motorcycle's seat. Unscrew the screws holding it in place on the motorcycle. Consult the user's manual for your specific model of motorcycle.
- 2). Turn the separated motorcycle seat over and remove the stitching from the vinyl along the bottom. Remove the vinyl from around the baseplate of the motorcycle seat. What will now remain is foam that has been molded to the shape of the motorcycle seat and attached to the baseplate.
- 3). Cut a soft piece of batting to the shape and size of the motorcycle seat so that it will fit right on top of the foam. Try to wrap the old vinyl seat covering over the batting and the foam seat to see if it fits properly. If it doesn't, a new piece of vinyl or leather will have to be sized and cut to fit over the foam, baseplate and batting pillow top addition.
- 4). Cross-stitch this new piece of vinyl or leather around the foam or batting top of the motorcycle seat with a needle and some particularly strong thread, like satin thread. Stitch everything twice, to ensure it doesn't come undone over time and make sure none of the batting or foam is squeezing out of the bottom. Also examine the top, to make sure the batting pillow top has not made the motorcycle seat too misshapen and it will still be comfortable to sit on. If it has, remove the vinyl and reattach the batting pillow top.
- 5). Reattach the motorcycle seat and sit on it to see how it feels.
