- 1). Place a 4x4 block lengthwise into the jaws of a bench vise. Keep at least 2/3 of the block exposed and on top of the vise. Use the straight edge to draw a diagonal line going from one corner to the opposite side. The line should segment the block into a wedge shape.
- 2). Cut the marked piece off the side of the block so you end up with a triangular piece of wood, slightly askew on one side. Pop the block out and reposition it in the vise. Have the block standing upright in the vise. Mark the center of the block at the top and drill a half-inch hole all the way through to the opposite side.
- 3). Repeat Steps 1 and 2 with the other block. Push one end of the rope through the hole in both blocks and pull it through. Leave six inches of rope sticking out the end of each block and tie a double square knot into the excess to prevent the blocks from falling out of the rope. The rope connects the two wood chocks.
- 4). Place one chock under the front of the tire and the other on the rear. Keep the rope on the outer side of the tire. Pull the rope in the center to remove the chocks from the wheels.
