How to Create Concrete Rock Fountains

    • 1). Determine the size of the fountain that you want to build by making a drawing. Multiply the width of your fountain by the length to determine the square footage.

    • 2). Mark the location of the fountain in your yard with stakes or use spray paint. Use a hammer to drive the stakes into the ground.

    • 3). Excavate the area for your fountain with the shovel. Remove the grass and then level the dirt. Place the first row or concrete rocks around the perimeter.

    • 4). Insert the pond liner into the concrete rock fountain. Place the edge of the liner along the top row of the concrete rock. Trim the pond liner so that it covers 1/2 of the concrete rock.

    • 5). Apply the two beads of silicone adhesive to the top of the first row of concrete rocks. Place the edge of the pond liner on the first bead of adhesive.

    • 6). Lay the second row of concrete rock on top of the first. Offset the second row so a concrete rock covers the seam.

    • 7). Set the fountain pump in the center of the fountain. Run the electrical cord over one side and then plug it into an electrical outlet or an extension cord.

    • 8). Fill the concrete rock fountain with water until the pump is fully submerged. Turn on the pump to make sure that it is working correctly.
