TVs in Hot Tubs Suck

Are you deciding whether or not you should add a TV onto your current hot tub, or if you should add this option onto your future purchase? Before you make your decision, read my opinion on why TVs and spas don't mix.
1) Timing.
Depending on your hot tub's water temperature (the general population keeps spa water at 104-degrees Fahrenheit), you're only supposed to stay in for 15 to 20 minutes.
Are you really going to watch an entire movie in a hot tub? I know watching the big game in a hot tub sounds great, but around the 30 minute mark you're going to get wrinkled and uncomfortable.
2) Reconnecting? Relaxing in a hot tub can be a great time to reconnect with loved ones without the distractions of the living room.
Talk about your day, learn new things, laugh and have fun.
If you could reconnect with the TV, wouldn't you just stay in the living room? A backyard getaway is for "getting away.
" That includes getting away from the TV.
3) Maintenance.
Now-a-days companies build TVs that can be completely submerged without a problem.
That's pretty neat, but does your spa really have that particular TV? Probably not.
Moisture can be a killer for any electronics, and TVs are definitely in that category.
Even if the TV is water tight, the most likely pieces to break are the gears and chains needed to elevate the TV from its protective cabinet.
4) Neighbors.
If you live in a rural area with no one for miles, you can crank up the TV as loud as you want.
However, if you have neighbors, are they going to appreciate you blasting the TV so you can hear it over the sound of the jets and motors? They're probably not going to enjoy your outdoor TV time when they're trying to garden, relax, or enjoy their own backyard.
5) What's on? How are you going to get signal to that TV? Calling the cable or satellite company to hook up your outdoor TV can cost hundreds of dollars.
Just using the DVD player? Remember to fully dry your DVD since only a few water droplets into the DVD player can cause it to malfunction.
Once you have your movie playing can you fast forward, pause or rewind? You may have to get in and out of the spa to pause, rewind and fast forward your movie.
