There is a school of thought floating around in Sabbath-keeping circles that a day will come when a Sunday Law will be enacted in every nation to force people to honor Sunday as the exclusive day of worship. According to the general theory, the acceptance of Sunday sacredness will become the mark of the beast but it is not the mark of the beast today.

I do not wish to dispute the probability of a Sunday decree. I am just trying to make sense of the logics of the arguments in its favor. Sometimes a legitimate view can appear false because of misrepresentation.

The manner in which the advocates of this impending Sunday law put across their position seems to suggest that the Devil just wanted to enforce the worship God on Sundays instead of on Sabbaths. But what does Satan really hopes to accomplish by the passing of an international Sunday decree if his purpose is merely to force people to worship God on Sundays?

If it's really Satan's desire to be worshipped by the world, why should we think that he will force people to worship God under any circumstance!!? And as outlandish as this may sound, why not legislate Sunday observance to force people into worshipping Satan!!!? The point I'm trying to make is that SATAN DOES NOT WANT US TO WORSHIP GOD AT ALL!!

When we consider the fact that most of the Christians are found in Sunday keeping churches, in contrast to the handful of Sabbath keeping Christians that exist today, what can Satan achieve by a Sunday law if it's nothing more than an attempt to transfer solemnity from the Sabbath to Sunday?

Even if the vast majority continues to worship on Sundays after the law becomes effective, Satan will still be saddled with the task of convincing the vast number of those genuine Christians, who are not convicted of the Sabbath, to surrender their loyalty to Christ. Certainly, a Sunday-keeping Christian cannot automatically be made a sinner because of a Sunday law. After all, he was already keeping Sunday as a day of worship without such a law!

Because Satan wants to be worshipped by the world (Isaiah 14; Ezek. 28), what he would naturally want to do is to introduce an evil religious scheme to deceive and coerce the world into giving him the homage he wants! In other words, if a Sunday law is to be the means by which the Devil is to accomplish this objective, it will have to be more than just a piece of legislation in favor of a particular day of worship.

This end-time religious scheme that the Devil will introduce in the not-too-distant future will affect Sunday keepers just as much as it will affect Sabbath keepers.
