- In some cases weed eaters will contain old fuel which has coated the starter on the engine, preventing it from starting or running properly. This is a common problem when the machine has not been used in some time. To remedy this, simply dump out the old fuel, wash the fuel tank with warm water and then let it dry out for a few hours. Then refill the weed eater's fuel tank and see if it starts up.
- Engine compression is important for the engine to run properly and it is often thrown off from constant use and wear and tear. Most weed eater engines need to be set at 90 psi to run properly, though this can very from model to model. Later models can run on lower compressions but the higher the engine compression the better it will run and start up. Hold the throttle wide open after you check the compression on your weed eater and make sure the engine is cold. It should only take four to five pulls total before it starts up.
- If your Echo trimmer still isn't working after troubleshooting, check to see if your warranty on it is still valid. Most Echo trimmers come with a five-year warranty for consumers and a two-year commercial warranty covering all parts that break down. If you send it in to them or take it to an authorized repair company, they will replace and fix whatever is wrong for free. Make sure you have registered your trimmer with Echo before doing this, otherwise it may not stand.
