- 1). Review wireless plans. Look at plans online at verizonwireless.com or stop by your local retailer. Find locations online by clicking on the store locator button and entering your zip code or by calling (800) 922-0204.
- 2). Select a plan. Verizon Wireless offers plans for individuals and families. In order to pay the same amount monthly and avoid going over your allotted minutes, choose your plan carefully based on your needs. If you use text messaging and email, ensure that you add the features to your plan, as the extra charges can be costly.
- 3). Choose a phone. Verizon offers a variety of cell phones, including BlackBerry devices, music players and smart phones. Always check current Verizon promotions, as some phones may be discounted or free. Select a cell phone for each line of service you plan on adding to your new plan.
- 4). Apply for service. Getting a flat rate plan through Verizon requires that you either pay a deposit or have it waived based on a good credit check with your Social Security number. Be aware that if you are required to pay a deposit, you must pay one for each line of service that you add.
- 5). Keep track of your use. To prevent adding additional fees to your bill once you have your phone, check your use often online or by dialing *611 from your Verizon Wireless cell phone. If you think you will go over your minutes, contact a customer service representative and upgrade your plan.
