Narrative of a Micro Business Entrepreneur Part 1

€In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.€ Genesis 1:1

I managed to graduate from college with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology. My ambition at this stage was really to be a well compensated engineer. Well that ambition actually came true. Curious how a dream can become a nightmare or at the least an unsatisfying everyday existence of boredom: recession, 2 weeks of vacation per year, a different employment every 2 years, 60 hour work week, very driven self concerned bosses, a number of homes, eight cars, school loan, auto loan, motorcycle financing and house mortgages. At one time I was getting $75k/year, however with $200,000 in liability. Thinking back it took losing my occupation and almost going bankrupt to recognize I was programmed to think I was entitled to more and so commenced my pathway towards learning that life does not have to be a prison.

If you're reviewing this post then perhaps you are looking for something different as well? I'm not referring to make money fast systems. None of the information I ever post are going to be about that! I'm writing on working your butt off to grow an inheritance, to be able to live life, to be satisfied with your wages, while also having time to spend with friends and see this great planet. I am referring to liberation! There are lots of happy folks who are satisfied, heck even happy to drive to an 8 to 6 job every day. There certainly are many noble professions. I'm writing this to people who do not fit into any of these commendable activities and can't continue the 9 to 5 earning a living from the corporate machine only to get 10 days of holidays and let go in 2 years. However, once again you can also find healthy corporations out there, and so decent occupations. I've never noticed them, but if you would like to read more with regards to finding the right careers and organizations, then I'd advise you to look over the following books: 48 days to the Job you Love, Good to Great, Start with Why and What Color is Your Parachute?

These publications are a good read and are profitable irrespective of whether you want to stay at your job or not. Nonetheless, if you have fed up with corporate America and are ready to explore your calling then continue reading.

I was laid off from my job as an application engineer with an elastomer/Teflon seals manufacturer in January 2009. I had an $1800/mo home loan, $350/mo car installment and ever increasing personal debt. My mother (God rest her soul) paid the debt owed on my car loan and helped out with my financial woes as best she could. Nevertheless, $1200/mo in jobless income does not prevent a "sinking ship". I owed about $200k on the house. Thank God I didn't have family members of my own to be concerned with when all this happened. Nevertheless, God Himself did come through for me! I was able to get hooked up with a fantastic and competent realtor (Jeremy Wilson at Chucktown Homes) who was able to talk with my bank and get the house marketed as a short sale. Thus began my journey on the way to becoming debt free!

As a result of 8 months of unemployment and learning I was on a sinking ship loan, I made the choice to get a career selling medical insurance. This was one of the craziest decisions I've ever made! Manufacturing to COMPLETELY commission payments!? However I did it! Believe it or not I was #2 rookie of the year! I was able to repay all my accounts. I am proud to mention at this time I'm debt free and in no rush to go back into debt. On the flip side, I'm in a big hurry to go on another tropical getaway! I've enjoyed three in 2012 and I am hoping for four in 2013!

Trying to live the reality of freedom a year at a time.
