- 1). Open a different Internet browser (or other Internet program) on the laptop. If the program gains access to the Internet, you know the problem is with Internet Explorer, and not the TRENDnet wireless PC card.
- 2). Check the connection of the TRENDnet wireless PC card. If the lights on the card are not on, then there is a connection problem. Push the card completely into the expansion card slot to lock the card into place.
- 3). Eject the card, restart the computer, then slide the card back into the expansion card slot. Occasionally a computer boots up without detecting the equipment, so restarting the computer, then inserting the card into the computer will correct this problem.
- 4). Insert the driver installation CD into the CD/DVD drive of the computer. If you haven't installed the driver onto the system, you must do so, as it requires the driver to understand how to use the wireless card.
- 5). Open the "Control Panel" (listed on the "Start" menu), then select "Internet Options." Choose the "Firewall Exceptions" option, then check off "Internet Explorer." If Internet Explorer is not checked off, Windows is going to prevent the program from accessing the Internet.
