- 1). Turn the skirt inside out and lay it on your work surface with the bottom of the skirt in front of you.
- 2). Find the folded mark left by the hemline and fold the fabric along the fold line.
- 3). Iron to keep the fabric in place and flat against the skirt. If there is no folded mark to guide you, fold over 1/2 inch of fabric all the way around the bottom edge of the skirt. Iron to lay it flat and insert a few sewing pins for extra strength.
- 4). Sew a straight stitch by hand all the way around the hem, about 1/4 inch away from the rough edge of the bottom fabric. When using a sewing machine, you can sew a zigzag stitch instead if you prefer.
- 5). Remove the sewing pins and turn the skirt right-side out.
