- 1). Fold an 8.5-by-11-inch piece of construction paper in half lengthwise so the long ends come together. Crease the paper.
- 2). Starting 1 inch in from the left edge of the paper, make 1/2-inch-long cuts along the folded edge about 1 inch apart. Be careful not to cut clear through the paper.
- 3). Open the paper flat onto your work surface. Bring the short ends together so they overlap, then tape or staple the top and bottom overlapped ends.
- 4). Gently push the top and bottom edge toward each other to open up the slits in the paper. Cut a 1/2-by-8-inch strip of construction paper and staple each end to the top of the light, forming a handle. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for as many lights as you need to make.
- 5). Place one Chinese paper light over each small bulb on a strand of small, white lights, then hang the Chinese lights.
